"Blessed is the man, who having nothing to say, abstains from giving wordy evidence of the fact."
- George Eliot
Fate
Fate is the
vehicle that transports
the feeble-minded masses
to some unknown
destination
that they are unable
or unwilling
to determine
for fear of never reaching it
So they are tagged
and herded
aboard a great iron cage
moving along the railway of life,
crooked and rusty
Their hands and feet
bound
by an invisible cord
of indecisiveness
Their eyes squeezed tight,
or stapled shut
Sensing the passing days
only by the orange glow
of daylight
seeping through their eyelids
to their pupils
fixed on some dreamy
vision
of what life would be
if they could just
wake up and
see
